Why Pine ?

Pine from plantation forests has many very attractive characteristics.

Performance: Radiata pine has excellent performance characteristics across a wide range of segments. From nail holding and gluing to planning to a smooth finish or shaping to accurate angles and curves... pine performs at a level equal with the best of wood species available.

Stainability: Radiata pine takes up a stain very well and can be coloured to take on almost any "look" desired. Whether a dark hard wood appearance or a blonded modern look is preferred, pine can be stained easily and succcessfully to fit the requirement.

Seasoning: Radiata pine is seasoned (dried) well in properly designed and operated kilns. Kiln-dried pine is a stable, reliable product. When pine is being used in an appearance application it should be dried within 14 days of the tree being harvested, which is always the case for LumberLink pine supplied from all its international sources.

Availability: Coming from intensively managed plantation forests, Radiata pine is consistently available all year round. Efficient supply chains can be established and maintained when manufacturers, retailers and users can rely on supply. Relatively low inventories are required within the supply chain utilising Radiata pine as a raw material or finished product.

Machinability: Radiata pine machines very well, producing a finished product with almost any desired surface texture, from glassy smooth to matt or "distressed" finishes.
